Mia D. McNeil
joined Kelley Cawthorne in January 2009 as legislative counsel after
working within the Executive Office of Jennifer M. Granholm, Division
of Legislative Affairs.
The Grand Blanc, Michigan native has been active in grassroots political organizing including service as the Michigan coordinator for Rock the Vote. In that capacity Ms. McNeil served as a liaison to local media regarding voting issues and supervised statewide volunteers on voter registration and policy issues. She also was active with the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division as an advocate for loan repayment assistance programs for law students and as the national liaison to the ABA’s Commission On Women in the Profession.
Ms.
McNeil earned her bachelor's degree from Tennessee State University and
her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Active in the
Lansing community, she participates in various community service
activities as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and is a
frequent participant in voter protection and voter education
programming.
