Kelley Cawthorne

Melissa Yutzey joined Kelley Cawthorne in July 2005 after serving as Assistant Vice President for Legislative Affairs at Western Michigan University.

Prior to her service at Western Michigan University, Ms. Yutzey served as Special Projects Coordinator for Senate Democratic Leader Bob Emerson. She has also served as Finance Director of the Senate Democratic Fund where she was instrumental in raising $3 million and coordinating all aspects of caucas fund-raising events.

Ms. Yutzey began her career as an Assistant to Deputy Chief of Staff in the office of House Speaker Curtis Hertel. She subsequently served as an Aide to Rep. Jack Minore.

Ms. Yutzey earned her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, with a dual major in international relations and political theory and constitutional democracy. Active in the Lansing community, she has worked as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and other local charitable organizations.
